Our Gulf Office

International and Private Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) treats children from around the world. Many of our patients come from the Gulf region and to support them we have a regional office in Dubai Healthcare City. Our Gulf Office provide information and advice about seeking and receiving treatment at GOSH, primarily before and after travelling to London. No medical services are provided in our Gulf Office.
Our Gulf Office can help children and families, clinicians, referrers and sponsors in a number of ways.
For children and families, the Gulf Office can:
- Process requests for consultations, second opinions and admissions to GOSH
- Give advice on the most appropriate clinical speciality or consultant for children with rare and complex conditions
- Provide care plans and estimates of costs for any proposed treatment
- Upload reports, x-rays and images for review by our radiology department in London
- Give supporting information on the facilities at GOSH, as well as places to stay in London
- Forward invoices and support families in making payments to GOSH
- Assist with the administration of any follow-up that may be needed
- Provide letters to assist with visa applications
For clinicians and referrers, the Gulf Office can:
- Provide information on GOSH specialties and services
- Link clinicians in the region who are seeking advice from GOSH Consultants in London
- Give advice on the most appropriate specialty or clinician for children with rare and complex conditions
- Upload reports, x-rays and images for review by our radiology department in London
- Arrange second opinions and case conferences on complex cases
- Provide reports and updates on children who have received treatment at GOSH
For embassies and insurers, the Gulf Office can:
- Provide information on GOSH specialties and services
- Give advice on the most appropriate specialty or clinician for children with rare and complex conditions
- Upload reports, x-rays and images for review by our radiology department in London
- Arrange second opinions and plans of care/treatment for children with complex needs
- Provide reports and updates on children who are currently receiving treatment at GOSH
- Assist with financial and billing queries

Sue Chapman
Gulf Regional Clinical Manager
Sue has recently completed a PhD in Child Health at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Her research interest is in the nurse’s role in detecting deterioration in children and the role of Paediatric Early Warning Systems. Sue has published a number of papers in international peer reviewed medical journals and is a well regarded speaker at medical conferences.
Sue moved to the UAE in 2015 to lead the Gulf Office. She is available to give advice to families, clinicians and sponsors on GOSH and our facilities.

Raakhee Thakrar
Gulf Office Manager
She moved from the UK to UAE in 2008 to work in the Gulf Office.
Raakhee’s main role is to manage the day to day smooth running of the office from an administrative point.

Samah Amri
Gulf Office Administrator
Samah is an Arabic speaker and uses her knowledge of the language to translate and assist patients with appointments and information.
Samah joined the Gulf Office in 2009.
