World-renown GOSH consultant presents at conference in Abu Dhabi

Professor Ajay Vora, Consultant Paediatric Haematologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London, spoke at the 1st Emirates Paediatric Hematology and Oncology Conference that was organised by Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

As a world-leading expert in haematology, with a special interest in childhood leukaemia and cord blood transplantation, Prof. Vora was invited to speak at the conference on childhood leukaemia. On Friday 21st September, he spoke to international colleagues about the management and prognosis of childhood leukaemia. Leukaemia represents 30% of all cancers in children with 85% of leukaemia presenting as Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and 10% as acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

Prof. Vora highlighted three main learning objectives for his audience, including identifying symptoms and signs of leukaemia; discussing epidemiology and investigations and explaining the basics of management and prognosis.
