Overview

The Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Service (CESS) is a nationally commissioned service, recognised as one of the four designated centres for epilepsy in England.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has had a programme of surgery for treating epilepsy in children since 1992. GOSH has the facilities needed for all the investigations, tests and treatment your child may need.

The Epilepsy Team is multi-disciplinary., It includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychiatrists, neuropsychologists, developmental specialists, clinical neurophysiologists, EEG physiologists, nurse specialists, nurses, neuroradiologists, social workers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, play specialists, physiotherapists and administrative staff.

Please note that private referrals for NHS eligible patients is not possible for Neurology. This is because children requiring treatment in this department will need continued and well-co-ordinated care, and good communication from the outset with their local paediatric services is essential.  By entering the private treatment route, we are unable to provide the long term local support services required.
