GOSH celebrates Eid al Fitr
Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital (GOSH) in London chose this year to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with its patients, families and employees by hosting a party and distributing gifts to the sick children in their wings. One of the Kuwaiti mothers commented: "The atmosphere here in the hospital is very wonderful, and my daughter attended the ceremony organized by the hospital on the occasion of the Eid, and was very happy and enjoyed a good time."
GOSH held a party to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with all families, patients and staff at the hospital. A group of girls from a local Islamic school sang during the event, followed by the distribution of a variety of hot foods and sweets to children, such as lamb machboos, warm potatoes and cold appetizers. Attendees also enjoyed activities such as henna painting, painting and handicrafts, and a dedicated photo corner.
The nursing staff distributed gifts to the children who had to spend Eid at the hospital, bringing happiness and joy to the children and their families on this happy occasion.
The hospital also held a colouring contest during the holy month of Ramadan for patients and their relatives in the hospital. The two-winning works were used to promote the ceremony on posters and invitations throughout the hospital. The winners also received an award for their creative work.
"We are delighted to be able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with our patients, their families and hospital staff," said Trevor Clarke, Director of the International Department of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. “We hope that our gathering to celebrate the feast contributed to the smile on the faces of everyone who attended the event in the hospital."
