Dr Martin Samuels
Overview
Dr Martin Samuels is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Staffordshire Children's Hospital. He trained and worked in general paediatrics, paediatric respiratory medicine and paediatric intensive care. He has a longstanding interest in respiratory control disorders, life-threatening events and sudden death. For the last 10 years, he has worked predominantly in the field of Respiratory Sleep & Long Term Ventilation.

Dr Samuels has had longstanding interests in the mechanisms for apnoea, hypoxaemic episodes and hypoventilation, life-threatening events and sudden unexpected death. This extended to interests in different patterns of breathing, studying central hypoventilation
Education:
Dr Samuels qualified from Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1981 with MB BS BSc. In 1992, he was awarded an MD for his thesis on Mechanisms for Hypoxaemic Episodes in Infants and Children, and in 1997 conferred Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (FRCPCH).
