Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist
Dr Fergus Robertson

Обзор

Before specialising in interventional neuroradiology, Dr Fergus Robertson worked in many other medical areas, including haematology, palliative care, chest and cardiac medicine. As well as undergraduate medical master’s degree from the University of Cambridge and an MD from Barts and The London School of Medicine, he has gained MRCP and FRCR, both of which are postgraduate diplomas in internal medicine and general radiology.  Dr Robertson believes that this eclectic professional experience has put him in a better position, with a broader perspective, required to look after complex patients he meets at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

I find working as consultant in paediatric interventional neuroradiology at GOSH is both highly rewarding and a huge privilege. Taking a family from a potentially devastating situation to the point where their child is recovered and thriving is an unbeatable experience and the resilience of families under these conditions never ceases to impress me. Working within the brain or spinal blood vessels of a child or baby presents major technical challenges. The scale and nature of the problems I encounter are very different from my adult practice and often demand lateral thinking and innovation. The work presents constant intellectual challenges.  I am fortunate to work in a team of brilliant individuals who are dedicated to working together not only to provide great care but also who support one another is this demanding field. The team really is critical to our success. - Dr Fergus Robertson.
